Orpheus Sinfonia presents Gustav Mahler's Symphony No.1

Friday,
13 Mar 2026
@8.00pm

Experience the power and raw emotion of Mahler's vivid Symphony No.1 like never before. This music has, to modern ears, the scale and scope of an epic soundtrack. For this intimate performance its power is distilled down to its essence, played by a group of 15 musicians, allowing the audience to be up close to the action.

With the audience wrapped around the orchestra, this dramatic performance will take you on a journey that starts in darkness - a foggy, ethereal world, but with that fog soon burnt off by the rising sun. Along the way, experience nature's abundance, a plunge into tragedy, dark-hued folksong and then... an explosive finale where the symphony truly takes off with the composer putting his foot down, accelerating toward an unforgettable ending.
